It would be very useful I already have a bunch of ideas for using this !
Yves LécossoisCustomerHello,
I’m a bit late on this topic, but there is a way to do that without using a sphere.
Within Cycles engine, load your environment texture and apply a Verge3D PBR node to your object, play with the metallic and roughness sliders so this object can reflect the environment, switch to Verge3D engine and set the horizon color as you wish.
That’s all.
If you don’t want this texture to display as a background on your web page, don’t load it in the environment tab and don’t select the RealSky option in the World tab.
Yves LécossoisCustomerI found that shadows cast by the sun seem to be limited by the x-y-z position of the sun in relation to objects. Maybe this is the problem Vincent faces.
For example, by default, objects located more than about 16 meters from the base of the sunlight have no drop shadows, as can be seen on my first screenshot, in the 3D view as on a web page.
If I move the sun on the other side on the X axis, then it’s the first cube that has no shadow (second screenshot).
The settings of the sun can improve that. For example, you can increase the size of the map. The shadows have a lower resolution (third screenshot) and you have to increase the resolution of the map. If a gap between the shadow and the object is visible we can also increase the “Far” value (maybe there is another setting ?) .
I don’t know if these limits are OpenGL limits or if there is a way, in the future, to have sun settings less restrictive, which would be a great improvement especially in case we need a scene spanning a large space.
Yves LécossoisCustomerThanks a lot, Mikhail. :) And thanks a lot to each member of the Verge3D team for the impressive work already done !
Yves LécossoisCustomerHi Jem,
About normal map creation for low poly model made from high poly model, try these Youtube tutorial:
EDIT: Two replies almost at the same time ;)
Yves LécossoisCustomerHello Yuri,
It appears the problem was finally… me.
I used to do ctrl-alt on Firefox for panning camera, but this keyboard shortcuts don’t work on Google Chrome and Safari. With these browsers a simple right-clic do the same thing. I should have remembered it, but habits… -
