YorickCustomer
Hi Yuri,
We make models for customers all over the world as a SAAS software company.
We can not expect them to install something extra to work with our software.Kind regards,
yorickYorickCustomerTo clarify: we’re talking about two separate issues.
- We will do a FPS test with the loading in the background and get back to you.
- When appending a scene, we are unable to make it use the material in the fist scene. How can we do this?
YorickCustomerboth on my laptop (dell xps 15):
windows 10 pro
intel i7 8750H
16GM RAM
intel UHD 630
GeForce GTX 1050 Tiand my cellphone (Oneplus Nord):
Android 11
Qualcomm SM7250 Snapdragon 765G
12GB RAM
Adreno 620important fact:
on my pc the browser doesn’t report the discrete GPU when visiting https://jdashg.github.io/misc/webgl/low-power.html
but only the integrated one for both “low-power” and “high-performance”on my cellphone it mentions the Adreno 620 for both “low-power” and “high-performance”
YorickCustomersome feedback:
when we set ctxSettings.powerPreference = ‘high-performance’;
it makes it unusable on different machines with only integrated GPUs available to the browser
(you can check which GPUs are available to the browser with this code: https://jdashg.github.io/misc/webgl/low-power.html)
AND it also creates some artifacts
it’s really unusably slow, even though it works OK without powerPreference = ‘high-performance’;So it seems like setting that powerPreference uses a lot more GPU resources (too much for an integrated GPU in our case)
When the browser has access to a dedicated GPU for high performance (again, you can check like this: https://jdashg.github.io/misc/webgl/low-power.html) then it does work fine
YorickCustomerHi Alexander,
are you refering topowerPreference: 'highPerformance'
or to something else?
Is it something we could manually set in the file at the moment?YorickCustomerLooking forward to taking it for a spin!
YorickCustomerthanks for the update!
YorickCustomerThanks Alexander.
My hint would be to disable the dedicated GPU of your system, or start chrome with a flagg to only use the integrated GPU.-
Intel UHD Graphics 630;
Intel UHD Graphics 620;
Intel Iris Plus;worked to reproduce the issue on our side. So the best would be to use an intel based system.
YorickCustomerCould we get a quick update on this one please? This really makes AO impossible to use for our client.
YorickCustomerThe current status of AA (with AO) is not acceptable for our client. In a B2C setting of very expensive products with an emphasis on look and feel, we really can’t have jagged edges like this in 2021…
YorickCustomerNice!
We’ll be trying it out soon and are looking forward to the AO.YorickCustomerYes, they are different. Verge3D AO event broken and works wrong better not to use it.
Hi Mikhail,
We’re glad that you also realise that it’s broken.
In order to be able to compete with other 3D platforms we really need working AO. The demands and expectations are becoming higher and higher.We already have customers who have let us know that they are not satisfied with the current quality. AO would greatly improve the visual appeal of our models. (baking is not a solution due to the highly dynamic nature of our models)
Can you share the timeline for this?
Kind regards and I’m looking forward to your response,
yorickYorickCustomerThanks, great support Alexander!
YorickCustomerThanks for the hint Alexander, we’ll look into it.
But how come this happens on our servers and not locally? Should they not render the same?Could it have something to do with Rasterization that is on that server “software only” in chrome?
YorickCustomerI’m not able to reproduce atm, but I’ve updated drivers in the meantime, so that maybe fixed it?
I also have an Nvidea GTX (1050Ti), but the browser used the integrated intel graphics 630. Multiple displays were also active when seeing the reported behavior.
