Yuri – shouldn’t the HTML interface I am using to overlay over my app be setup in the initiation phase/tab – as the app first starts up?
I was thinking if I wanted, say, for an HTML button to pop up on the screen after a user clicked an object in the scene, I would have to first create the HTML button (using “add HTML elem” puzzle) in the initialization, set it to hide (display = none), then in the main screen, add a puzzle that is triggered by the onclick event of an object in the scene that would then show (display = block) the HTML button.
Are you saying I can create HTML elements on the fly? So the webpage I am running my app on will automatically know to refresh to adjust for new HTML content?
What if I wanted that HTML button to be there from the moment the app loads (and don’t want to spend the time creating the a custom index html file in external editor like Webflow with the button created)?
What would be the equivalent “on load” puzzle available in the main tab be? Sorry I am such a noob at this :O
CrunchCustomerah, i had a syntax error, on my second iframe i had src=”/joey_stick.html”, changed it to src=”./joey_stick.html” and it works!
Verge3d is just pandora’s box for me, possibilities for what you can do with this seem endless and a i feel i haven’t even scratched the surface yet.
Now is there any way for 1 app to talk to another app? (via like puzzles?) I haven’t tried any experiments yet but thinking that might be a few versions away.. Or maybe possible now? I have no idea, Yuri?
CrunchCustomerHappy Birthday Yuri!
I expect to be visiting that store as soon as I can get some actual prototypes/demos of what I will be able to do with Verge3d on the e-learning front to my boss. Trying to explain to someone how revolutionary your software is to someone who doesn’t understand anything about web technology is difficult.
Once I get proficient enough I plan on putting up a youtube channel devoted to helping people learn Verge3d. There are so many Blender users out there and I really see Verge3d as the bridge to where blender artists can finally start making some serious money instead of just having fun creating things.
I figure the more blender users I can get excited about Verge3d, the more come over here, the more sales/revenue you get, the more capital/resources you have to make Verge3d even better!
THANK YOU SOFT8SOFT TEAM and happy b day Yuri!
CrunchCustomerI am sorry, I guess it does work. I had previously been using a much older version of Verge3d and just upgraded to 2.11.1. From what i recall and couldn’t get it work but really should have tried it again after the upgrades before coming here asking. sorry!
Thanks Yuri for your suggestion of modifying the url on the html mixer app. I will play around/experiment with that.
CrunchCustomerSo i ended up uninstalling 2.79
I right clicked on a blend file in windows explorer then selected “open with” and chose my Blender 2.8 exe file, everything stuck this time and is now working perfectly!
Now i can get back to Verging :) thanks
CrunchCustomerNice work Simo. You mentioned Apple only partially supports Webgl. You posted that back at the end of 2018 so really hoping that is no longer the case? If not is there a resource that lists the current support of Verge3d capabilities on Apple devices? I was under the impression webgl was an agreed upon standard so all modern browsers would have it baked in.
CrunchCustomerElk I was contemplating uninstalling 2.79 and hoping that would force windows to find 2.8 but also figured/worried it won’t fix anything and probably cause more problems.
Normally this wouldn’t be that big of deal for me (I am such a newb at blender I don’t produce anything yet worth saving) but when I run the Verge3d app, selecting the blend file triggers 2.79 to open. I think as a newb staying within the framework/workflow of the app is good practice so I don’t screw anything up.
I agree though this is a Microsoft issue. It almost seems like removing the option to search your computer for an app in the new “default settings menu” was some ‘strategic’ move by MS to drive more traffic to their App Store. How stupid.
I chatted with a MS tech this morning and showed the tech links to the webpages discussing the problem and commented how ridiculous it was MS hasn’t addressed it. After sending me a few work-arounds the tech had googled (one being from 2016!) the last one was this.
The answer with 8 upvotes that begins “If all else fails, you can try to resort to commandline manipulations”
I am not sure about doing what is suggest there either, as sometimes messing with that stuff can cause more problems later.
I posted this over in BlenderArtists.org to see if anyone else had insight on this issue

CrunchCustomerThanks Yuri but it appears Ozbend might be right that we (windows 10 users) might have to wait for version of 2.8 with an installer.
It appears Windows 10 (ver 1803) removed the option of manually locating the application to set the default association with the file type. It only gives the option of searching the “MS app store”. It’s a known issue according to this article:
https://www.ghacks.net/2016/02/16/how-to-make-any-program-the-default-on-windows-10/
The article suggests a 3rd party utility might fix it but I prefer not to install 3rd party utilities.
Something else I just noticed, I created a blend file with 2.8 and saved it. I close Blender 2.8 then find the file in windows explorer. I right click the file and select “open with”. With this method, it does allow me the option to manually ‘search my pc for app’, where I select the location of my Blender 2.8 exe… but it still opens with Blender 2.7!?
If I start Blender 2.8 and use Open feature the file opens as expected. Is this how everyone else (windows 10 build 1803) opens .blend files in 2.8?
