zoom in on mouse position

Need to develop the zoom in to the mouse.

Did anyone try somethin similar or knows of a plugin that does it?

My idea off the top of my head is to have an empty that would somehow snap to the surface whenever you mouse over an object and then have that as your zoom in target.

The issue is that I don’t want to make that place the center of rotation, only zoom to it.
