    Dear Verge3D team,

I’m hearing the WebGL is dying. In the future, it’s going to be WebGPU. Right? Not sure too many readings made me too confused. And, it seems WebGPU will result in greater performance and will make it an inseparable part of the native ecosystem due to Vulkan’s standardized API. WebGPU is still in the very early stages of development, but it’s a huge stepping stone it seems. Which sounds good!

So, why not ask the experts @ Soft8Soft

Is this going to change the workflow of how we work with 3D applications + Verge3D? I have invested a lot of money and time learning Verge3D so I’m quite concerned. Maybe I shouldn’t

    Thanks,
    Rana

    Hi Rana,

Don’t worry, WebGL is not dying ;-) Also even if WebGPU comes to replace it in some (rather distant) future, Verge3D will just work on top of it, trust me. B-)

    Hi Yuri,

Thanks for your affirmative statement and I knew you guys are well ahead of the tech trends. I’m obsessed with Verge3D and it’s amazing how you can bring your 3D model to life. So you know why me being me:)

But simply wanted to hear from you so, now I feel gooood :yahoo:

    Cheers,

    Hello,

this post is rather old now. What are the latest news on WebGPU support?

    #80545

    Hi Justin,

We keep monitoring the progress of WebGPU. However Verge3D does not utilize it at the moment. The browser support is still not universal and the specification is currently in draft status, and thus the WebGPU API is subject to change. So it is a low-priority thing for us as of now (may change in the future).
