I’ll just put this out there knowing that Vray is a back-shelf topic for Soft8:
If S8S were able to develop a reliable, working material & texture converter/plugin/extension, whatever you want to call it for Vray->Verge, I’d be willing to bet there are many users including myself who would be willing to pay for the convenience of adding that feature to their base Verge3D package.
– Just sayin’…

2020-06-29 at 6:15 pm #29386lbpaCustomerwe’ve had better luck with MaxTools V-RayMtl Converter, but it is a tedious process getting all of the unsupported features re-mapped.
Since S8S already knows the optimum settings for the Verge3D environment it seemed to make sense to ask about a verge-specific converter.

Kind regards.2020-07-02 at 2:34 pm #29552jamiecCustomerHi Mikhail,
I’m Jamie, and currently working on a video tutorial about verge3d.
Every time I export a 3ds max scene to verge3d with an hdri applied to the environment, it doesn’t appear sometimes(comes out black).
Is this to do with the fact that my hdri map is over 300MB in size?
I have also tried a 35MB hdri map, and still doesn’t work sometimes.
Is this to do with windows 10 settings?Also,3ds max photometric light and shadows doesn’t work when exported to verge3d.
Finally, the matte/shadow basic parameters doesn’t work when exported to verge3d.
I have attached my render and export settings
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Jamie

Many vray users probably have been wondering “what is the problem??”As I have just discovered with an upgrade to Vray5, there is a new vray mat converter included with vray5 which works perfectly, including physical materials, lights and cameras.
This means that we have changed our workflow from vray -> physical to physical -> Vray for the time being and unlike the MAX scene converter it actually works.
I’ll let the forum know how it works in the other direction; physical -> Vray5.
But for now, the question has been SOLVED!!

What material are you talking about and what do you mean by vray -> physical to physical -> Vray ?

Quoting Jamie “Also,3ds max photometric light and shadows doesn’t work when exported to verge3d.”….
I have this exact same problem.
Does this actually work?
I have a simple (like this scene cannot be any simpler, a simple one piece of wood profile, extruded).
It seems to me that Verge3D only works for an Environment Map type lighting.
I cannot get photometric lighting to work when exported to verge3D.
What am I missing here?
I have just three photometric lights, and nothing in the environment map slot. (is an environment map obligatory?).
When I export my scene and upload, my object is in total darkness.
There is nothing written in the manual to say if there are any special settings needed for photometric lights.
(in case you’re wondering, if I do add an enviroment map, then I get environment lighting only, no photometric lighting).
Can someone please help me?
Jamie, did you find your solution?
Many thanks to you all :)
