Hi, im experimenting with vertex color masks, i have a mesh with 20 shaders assigned to different parts, i want to merge all of those to one, i currently have tried to assign different rgb values to different parts and then use compare math node to isolate out the different parts so i can mix them using mix shader,

i have one vertex color set, i aim to assign different rgb values to each part of the mesh that has unique shader assign, and the extract that particular value using compare math node, if rgb Value1 + value2 = true result 1 (from math node).

    please see attached image

    is this even possible?

No, this not supported, try to use vertex color as a mask. Look at grass material in Firstperson Camera Demo.

at what point in the shader setup does this not work? or exactly what is not supported? is it the math node that does not work with the vertex color?

what about the windshield in the scooter demo? it does not use rgb as mask, rather black and white, mixed with a color mix node, for quick blending down the white mask

    this would be extremely useful.

so if it is what i think it is, i can only mix three shaders? limited to rgb?

fac output not supported. You can mix up to 10 shaders. You can use as masks Red, Green, Blue, Yellow (R+G), Light Blue (G+B), Magenta (R+B), black and white colors.

thanks, what about multiple sets of vertex colors? or only one set supported?

    yes, multiple sets supported.
