Hello,
Is there a way for having an opaque object be transparent in the area where a transparent object is going through it? Imagine like having a wall that is being intersected by a transparent cube which will make the area intersected transparent, as if there is a window. Maybe material nodes can be exploited in this way?

you can possibly use shape keys for that: https://www.soft8soft.com/docs/manual/en/blender/Morphing.html
This way you can place the cut off with puzzles where you need the window.

The models are on the more complicated side, sometimes needing as much as 20-30 windows, that is why I would prefer going down the material route, I used to use this node(Light Path) when doing such things, but it seems it only works with Cycles, can this be possibly added to Verge(Eevee doesn’t use it either)?

this technique requires layered rendering of transparent geometry, which is not very suitable for real-time (hence, no such output in EEVEE).
You might try making both the wall and the windows transparent and then playing with rendering order which is an object-level setting.

The problem is I do not want the wall to be transparent, just at the point of meeting.2020-08-26 at 7:58 am #31978Yuri KovelenovStaffwhat I mean is that you can set the wall material to be Alpha Blend for example, leaving its alpha at 1.
This will enable for the possibility to play with rendering order of the wall object and the window object. See more here:

I am having an issue with my FPS. About 2 weeks ago, I had this exact scene which could run at 60 FPS and had no lag whatsoever, then out of nowhere, it dropped down to about 15 FPS. I am trying to show the different air spaces for pilot, using transparent cubes as the airspace.I am running the most current version of Google Chrome, I have a Radeon RX570 GPU, and I can’t figure out what is causing the serious lag.
My most complex mesh is only 395 faces. The only thing I imagine it to be is the transparent shaders? Any insight is appreciated.

Hi,is it possible for you to share your project on the forums so that we take a look?

you can make a copy of the project folder and take out unnecessary things like puzzle backups and the blend and gltf files, then zip those 2 and attach them separately.

I also included a screen recording from a month ago when it was working perfectly. Thank you for taking a look at it. I am sure there are some optimizations I overlooked since this is my first time using Verge. Please let me know what changes can be made.
