I use Rhino for many many years and as all Modeling Programms, it has its pros and cons. In most of the cases, when i get CAD-data from my clients (sometimes files above 1Gb), i first import it into Rhino for control, repair, layerstructure or modeling some missing parts. Depending on the Models, i have different ways to bring it into 3ds Max, but one of the easiest is to create the mesh from your CAD-file in Rhino. Even if sometimes the (tris-) meshstructure looks messy (for a Modeller who is focused on quads), you nearly always get a nice smooth Mesh without Ngons, smoothing artefacts or holes. If you have the correct Mesh settings.
