Hello there, and congrats for the software.
I’m new here and i’m looking for a simple solution ta create a 3D configurator for 8pool maker.
It seams that your software is made for that, but i have a question : does it manage self-illuminated objects or lights ?
My customer’s web site is here : http://configurateur.billard-toulet.com/
As you can see, this v1 of the configurator is fully pre-rendered pictures.
It is nice, but heavy to manage. He often has new models / colours to add but it is too expensive / heavy work to create all needed pictures. So, we are planning a v2 of the website, and naturally we think about full 3D configurator.
Wood, plastics, fabric are ok, but you can see that some billards tables have some lights effects (choose BlackLight and Lambert models to see on the existing website). If we can do what we need, i’m pretty sure Verge3D will be the choosen solution, and you’ll have a new work to put in your gallery : Billards / 8pool tables, and mini-soccer (BabyFoot).
For info, i’m working with 3dsmax and i’m not a coder, so the easy graphic coding interface is great !
regards

Some light (tiny lighting) can be baked into lightmap and connected using different triggers in material node, some of the lights can be imitated using combination of self-illumation material (that supported, but work little different than in render) and different light sources. I think you can try to make a test table and if you will have troubles with something you always can write here on the forum and ask a help, we’ll find a solution for you.

I’ll for sure give a try with your software, sound very promising, congrats !
It will take some weeks to find some time for this try, but i’ll let you know when i’ll start testing Verge3D.
In the midtime, if you are looking for a new test scene or a new tutorial idea, consider the use of illumination stuff like neon signs or something

Only the “white studio” ambiance would get a full 360 axis camera. Not sure that an hdri could be used for light the tables with verge3D, but at least for reflexions, ans some spotlights would do the trick.
What do you think ?

Ok, I get it, I’ve also think about to create a topic where pople can ask for the new tutorials.

You can use HDRI for lighting (IBL is working well in the engine), but it will give you no shadows, so it’s better to use additional lights for shadows and to get more contrast lighting, but I think your way is right, we also use HDRI for reflections and create an mesh environment around the objects we present.
