Hi all,
I have a CAD model, that will explode a part outwards (and back in) into separate objects on a button click.
This all works fine in the puzzles for the code.I’m trying to get my animation over to Verge from Blender, but for some reason only my main objects show animation.
I have some keyframes set in Blender for moving the parts outwards & back in again
on a basic hierarchy:
-base model
–empty 1
— object 1
— object 2
— object 3
–empty 2
— object 3
— object 4
— object 5
Animation is set to the ’empty’ objects & and it’s children objects.
The empties move the hierarchy part outwards & the objects have their own little translation on top of that to get into the proper location. When I play this in Verge, the only animation I see is on the empties, the animation on the children objects is not there.
I tried every option in the Blender/Verge settings on the animated objects & render settings, but so far no luck.I’m triggering the animation in puzzles on ’emptie 1’and ’empty 2′, maybe that will not ‘see’ the animation of the underlying objects? Or do I need to trigger every separate object on click? Hope not…
Any tips are welcome, as I feel I’m overlooking something basic…

Do you want a download link here, or via email or something?
thanks!

Did you had time yet to look at the file? I’m really curious what it can be….
Thanks,

For these kind of animations that will take a lot of extra work.
This demo has almost 50 separate elements, in two sets of animations.
This becomes almost unworkable if there’s even more small objects to be shown.
It will become a long list of elements in the play puzzle, and hard to control. It would be nice to have Verge look at the full hierarchy for all animated objects.
For now I will have to re-organize my hierarchy, join all sub-objects into one mesh, and re-do some keyframes.
I did a quick test and that seems to be working fine. A bit of extra work, but at least I can start finalizing my little test project :)Thanks for the answer!

Thanks for that again! Blender and Verge are a great combo!

2020-07-22 at 2:20 pm #30467doehlmaCustomerHello,
I followed your posts and I had some equal problem before some time.. and I got following tip from other user:
If you have the animation definded complete in timeline, select all parts which animate, then from the menus bake the animation (object/animation/bake action) with the “Visual Keying” option selected. This creates keyframes for the objects position on each frame, which Verge3d can interpret…
Maybe works also for you
For my interest is it possible robwu01 that I can get your model because I am very interested in the explode and cut modifications… ???
Best regards

Forgot about this thread tbh, as we finished the project already.
You don’t have to bake anything. Just animate the ‘exploding’ on the elements hierarchy, and be sure to put all the animated connecting parts in a Collection, or Collections.
I had three in the end, one for the top part, one for the side and one for the bottom hierarchy.
In Verge puzzles you can then select each Collection and trigger the animation as a whole on all separate elements inside. Works just fine. For the Cut/Detail inside, we had a separate non-animated model in the same scene, which is hidden on startup. A menu button would hide the animated version and show the cut through model. And vice versa.
We also had see-through material options and some more things.Hope this helps.
And unfortunately I cannot share any models delivered by clients.rob

I’m a 3d freelancer based in Holland, and did this test for a company in Germany I often work with.
This one was their internal project to see how easily it would be to move from Softimage+Unity to Blender+Verge for interactive WebGL demos.
We are working on some other demo’s atm, I’ll see if I can post the weblinks here.
cheers,
rob
