I don’t know if this just a mac thing or not but the ability to toggle the gear icon is well … frustrating as all hell. Sometimes..its responsive and will work. Other times…its delayed in responding…and other times… you have to hunt around clicking on it until you find just the right spot to make it function.

Please please please…I am sure its an easy fix.

    thank you

Check other Blockly-based apps. Most likely the problem is in the Google Blockly system…

I frequently use puzzles with options and had never had any problems with them…

Puzzles and JS coding. Fast and expensive.

If you don’t see the meaning in something it primarily means that you just don’t see it but not the absence of the meaning at all.

Blocky direct is slow but not as slow… if I slow my roll it’s better but oh my so much wasted time. Maybe a hot key to open the gear when puzzles are selected?

I never face this issue at my end.
Is it like it will happen only when you have heavy puzzle editor stuff? OR in some particular case?

I just realized what could be the fact. I checked it on one of my office Mac machines
    Hope I am addressing correctly.

I think resolution factor with Mac is pretty good with smaller screens like 14″ or 15″ hence that tiny gear icon becomes still smaller to aim & click. Its like hit the ant by 3 meter long stick pointer.

To ensure health & eye fatigue remain in control, I mostly use 32″ 4k monitors when working hours together. That helps easy working with best resolution & large screen. I dont use Mac regularly, I use Asus ROG 17″ with 4K & still I prefer the 32″ monitor with 4k. Afterall its the eyes who need the soothing work conditions for them.

    Appreciate you looking into this.
I use a 32” 4K display set to half res when doing puzzles.

We are trying to understand the problem better here and although originally thought of as a Mac problem it’s more related to the individual user and related to how heavy the puzzle sets are.

As we all know if you use puzzles there are many situations where things are repetitious and you end up doing the same thing many times and as a result many users speed up their click rates. This is when things get bogged down.

Activating a gear icon requires two steps. The puzzle being selected/outlined then gear event. For speedy users one of the triggers is missed or not recognized. It may also be that the selects are happening on the gear icon first before the puzzle is selected, creating a wasted click.

In the majority of cases its when the user moves quickly from one puzzle to another and then selects the gear icon first. Because of its proximity to the edge of the puzzle, and how fast someone can target and click the gear icon, the initial puzzle recognition is missed (meaning the puzzles doesnt get outlined).

Another factor is frustration. If a user is in a rhythm of creating lots of puzzles mods that need access to that gear icon they can get impatient and must click and move faster than the puzzles respond.

Puzzle that have large data sets do take longer to load.

I am not sure any of this can be solved by soft8soft as it’s a Blockly issue.

For me especially this issue never occurred.
My maximum set of puzzles so far in Roboto Automation was 896 ( in single tab ) if all tabs considered then the set totally would be about 4000 or 4500.

Thinking in line with the user working pace once in Rythm. I also feel there are some minor things needs to be addressed. They are not surface lvel indicators but deal more with user efficiency, less fatigue.

As our puzzle sets get more complex with thousands of puzzles… load times in app manager take longer and wishing for any little nugget that speeds up our work flow. Fingers crossed.

There is where the user work efficiency consideration comes in picture.
Especially when I have 5000 puzzles, then I have to make tabs & there should be a way to indicate the priority of puzzle editor tabs to load in background after loading the initial default set.
this should solve the loading time of huge puzzle things.

Secondly grouping of puzzles & collapsing of puzzles as selected choice for ease of user’s track. So user can collapse multiple puzzle set in one huge puzzle set. Because zooming out has limitations and panning through 100s & 1000s of puzzles is hectic.

These are primary things. I believe.
