Hi,
I started using Verge 3D some weeks ago and now I’m planning to make a complex web presentation and some doubts came to me:
Firstly, there isn’t information at all about the “good” way to upload any scene to the web, as the optimization, it’s referred. Working with .jpg when it’s possible, I suppose, and of course trying to make an atlas texture with the objects in any texture sets (color, metallic, emission, normal…). Do we have to work with different .blend files and linked between them if it’s possible, or all in one file?
There are some options I miss in Verge when you come from Blend4web like the reflection that it will be nice to click/add as fast as the other addon does. Blend4web has some good features but I feel they don’t progress so good and the lack of attention from their support there are some of the main reasons I decided to change too. It’s a shame because I purchased the license only some months ago and there isn’t any way to get my money back.
Finally, I didn’t be able to align objects to the view (main camera) only if I import from another file, like examples from Verge 3D.
ThanksJon.

The optimizations are the same as for any mobile graphics and as for the Blend4Web engine. Use jpg if it’s possible, combine b/w masks into rgba channels of one texture, bake all you can bake into atlases, re-use the same textures multiple times in different materials and etc.
Do we have to work with different .blend files and linked between them if it’s possible, or all in one file?
It’s on your own choice and comfort of work. Linking don’t gives you any optimization anyway. If your scene is complex it’s better to divide it on parts and then assemble in one final file. If it’s simple so better to work in one file to avoid extra complexity.

It’s better now (from version 2.5) to use cycles materials to create materials for your scene, because at the end of the year (may be earlier) all glsl nodes will be deprecated and we will migrate on eevee. And in that point of view it’s very easy to setup reflection in cycles, just use Glossy BSDF or Principlied BSDF with Specular and Metallic preferences. The environment texture is obligatorily needed to get good reflection, soon we will port our material library to cycles nodes with a set of good environment textures, but now you can fin a lot of then in the internet.

Yes, it’s very sad to hear that you lost your money. We know, off course, about bad situation in the blend4web team but can’t talk about it much to warn the people not to buy a license.

You mean a simple parenting doesn’t work or some specific Alignment of Blend4Web?

I’ll try reflection with the new version.
Thanks for your answer and good attention2018-07-09 at 12:14 pm #5537Mikhail LuzyaninStaffWhat I mean with the alignment it’s to align some buttons to camera view.
You can just parent them to the camera and they will stick to it when you will move the camera around the scene.

Pick object, then with shift click on the camera and type ctrl+p=>Set Parent to.

2018-07-09 at 4:27 pm #5564jbetbeCustomerYes. Sorry I was only joking. I know it how to parent an object to another but I used to do it in b4w in a check option it’s called “align to camera view” I think, and automatically puts in front of the camera, even it has parented it before.
Thanks for your patience.2018-07-10 at 7:30 am #5568Mikhail LuzyaninStaffb4w in a check option it’s called “align to camera view” I think, and automatically puts in front of the camera, even it has parented it before.
Yes, it’s a specific b4w functionality to create interface directly in 3d, but we think it was too ristricted in variation of using. For creating interface button we advice our user to work with created over the 3d scene html elements. We have a speicific html Puzzles blocks to create any complixety and interactive html interface connected as much as possible to 3d scene. Only one thing is you need to create and html buttons using any visual html editor like webflow, google designer or something else, there’s a lot of them. Many of our custumers already working in such pipeline.
