I got the material pack, and the materials there look great and aren’t too hard to use – but they could definitely be simpler. The issue i’m having with the chrome material is a good example. I figured out how to set up new cubemap inputs so objects reflect the world that’s around them, but you definitely have to have some familiarity with nodes in order to figure it out. That isn’t why a person buys a material pack, so it would be nice if that was easy.

And the reflections are in black and white. Fixing that definitely involves knowing quite a bit about nodes. Unless i’ve made some mistake, right now there is no way to set up a mirror. That’s something i need all the time and i think it should be in the material pack – and that i should be eligible to update the pack for a while at no charge like i am with Verge3d itself.

Also, the glass material that is listed on the page for the pack isn’t there.

After you bought the material pack you have an acess to all updates of the material pack in the future.

Sorry that you didn’t find it. Try to download material pack again, there was a misteke that first link followed to old version of the material pack, we just removed the old verion.

About the complexity of material. Yes, some of the material is little bit complex because we try to achieve a specific look of the material with using a lot of nodes, without that we can’t keep the good quality of the materials.
But we always think how to simlify the materials and to help people to understand how to use our materials and modify them.

Most materials have gray refletions because they was created in abstract environment because we can’t gues where it will be used and we expect that it will be used in some abstract scene.

In next release of the material pack we try to fix some of this moments. You also can leave a suggestion about the missed (on your thourgts) material in the material pack and we try to create it in short time or help you with modifing already existing using your cubemap.

Thanks Mikhail, that is good to know.

The reflection colors aren’t important right now, but i will be happy when i can fix that, and it is a bit beyond me how to do that with nodes (and i don’t want to get into it for the moment).

I’ll go update my material pack now.

The material pack especcialy made for people who don’t want to go deep into the material nodes, but if you want modify them you will need to get a little deeper anyway because they made using a complex node combination. For that we plan to make a full explanation of the node system in our tutorials.
We also plan to implement some features such asrealtime rendering and full support of PBR pipeline in the future that will simplify the workflow, but they are not so optimized. Creating optimized and good looking materials it’s always a deep understaning of nodes, otherwise you will loose optimization or crtate a very simple material that looking not so realistic.
And you always can ask help here if you have some misunderstanding with nodes or the engine itself.
