I must be a complete idjit. Downloaded the material essentials for blender. Extracted the files. Appended a the aluminum object (I tried others) into a standard scene I use. I get zip zero nothing. I then tried to append the aluminum material into a default Verge 3d scene. Zip zero nothing. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.

Please check out these instructions: https://www.soft8soft.com/docs/manual/en/blender/Material-Library.html
2022-11-28 at 2:58 pm #58557vergecuriousCustomerI’ve reviewed the manual several times. Append, check for missing files and nothing. I can append any of my materials from other files. The materials won’t even apply to the basic Verge cube. I’m not a happy camper at this point:-(

2022-11-29 at 7:57 am #58607vergecuriousCustomerYou know honestly this just isn’t worth the hastle. If I can’t append the material, pack the resources and be off, it’s just another problem for me to deal with. I purchased this to make life easier, not harder. I think it’s best if I just get a refund and move on. Please advise how this can be accomplished.
Thank you.
PS I would have sent you a file but is was 5.6 mb zipped. You really can’t do much with 4mb these days.

Usually the library make life easier for people and you the first user who ran into this problem. May be it’s combination of software problems. What blender version do you use?

2022-11-29 at 4:49 pm #58635vergecuriousCustomerI appreciate the efforts of the staff. But this was like walking into a swamp. Way more trouble than it’s worth. I built a library of materials within a Verge project that I append from all the time. Maybe that’s why it works and your library does not. I tried your material library because I thought it might be less resource intensive. But it’s not worth all the trouble. I use a Blender clone called bforartists which is simply Blender 3.3.1 with a different ui.
The procedure to append in bforartists is append, apply and if you don’t pack resources automatically, pack resources. In rare cases you have to go to the edit mode and “assign” the material. That’s it. Anything more is just making things more complicated.
Again thanks for your interest.
2022-11-29 at 5:16 pm #58636Mikhail LuzyaninStaffCan you try vanilla Blender build from the official site with our library? But anyway I’ve tried this bforartist last version and it works fine with our library.

2022-11-29 at 5:51 pm #58639vergecuriousCustomerI’m not sure what you are asking? Are you asking me to use Blender rather than bforartists? If so I’m not up for that at all. What UI are you using in bforartists? It looks nothing like the default UI.

2022-11-30 at 4:43 am #58648FunJoy.TechCustomerHi, here is a quick walkthrough of adding the material pack as a custom asset library.

2022-11-30 at 4:49 am #58649vergecuriousCustomerThe issue wasn’t getting the material to load into blender. They appeared fine in blender. They simply would not export into a gltf file. Zip zero nada was the final result.

It works for me.
2022-11-30 at 5:39 am #58652vergecuriousCustomerWell, I’m glad it works for you. Using a system contrary to the instructions provided by Verge 3d. They kindly gave me a refund so I don’t have to try to play a video recorded at 10x frame by frame. I literally had to go second by second and it still did not work. I’ll stick to my own library where it is append, apply and move on. I was just trying to get materials that were less memory intensive. Lesson learned.
