I have just updated my Dreamy journey through 2020 after I have managed to get the animation of the material of the little vehicle’s body going in the browser.
I had created a node-group that I shared with other materials. But Verge3D doesn’t seem to pick an animation in a node group up.
In my experience, a material animation would play alongside the object animation. However, the material animation didn’t play.
I couldn’t find a puzzle that can call and play an animation of only a material. After un-grouping the material nodes in the material animation was picked up in Verge3D, I could adjust things with Puzzles and it all works.
– But it would be nice if I could keep my node “noodles” in a group.
– Besides that, it would be great If we could have a puzzle that can just play an animation of a material.
– That way we could also play and adjust animations of the World Environment material in Puzzles.I hope that that is feasible.
Thanks,

I don’t know if I understand your problem well, but I would like to take a look in your node setup (do you screenshot?) in exchange for one test (since I am verified second class person):
please go here: https://cdn.soft8soft.com/AROAJSY2GOEHMOFUVPIOE:9b393f721f/applications/cubes5x5x5/cubes5x5x5.html
and tell me if you see ortho or perspective camera. I need to go little bit forward with my research..do you help?2020-01-08 at 4:55 pm #22648illussimoCustomerHere is a Node Group test blend file.
Just ungroup the node group and the material animation exports fine with Verge3D.
Otherwise, it doesn’t.
Sorry, I should have included it in my post.In your test, I see a perspective view not orthographic.
Unfortunately, I have no experience with the orthographic view in Verge3D.
Why do you want to use it?

Why I want ortho? Because I think about to simulate this project in verge3d, and it would be more practicable to have orthographic camera for it, I think. It is a joke project, nothing real2020-01-08 at 5:16 pm #22653AnonymousInactiveso It is miracle for me, how Yuri can see orthographic camera. But I have no access to ask him
2020-01-08 at 6:13 pm #22656AnonymousInactivenow I understand what you mean. But unfortunately, I must say that group node is not working foir me too. So I gues you need to go hard way at first und make noodle-salad ungrouped, as you said. :(
2020-01-08 at 6:22 pm #22659illussimoCustomerYes, that’s one of the reasons why I made the post. I hope my requests are things that can be resolved in future releases.
2020-01-09 at 7:44 am #22666Yuri KovelenovStaffHi Simone,
The animation inside a node group is not supported at the moment. I’ll create a task in our dev tracker to address this problem.
As of animation of a material assigned to an already animated object, Verge3D considers this case as a single animation of the object. So when you use a play animation puzzle, both animations will be played back at the same time. So, at the moment, there is no way to animate just the material
However, there is a workaround you can use the animate parameter and set value puzzles to modify the material (including the environment material). Can this approach be of help for you?
2020-01-09 at 6:17 pm #22706illussimoCustomerI have used the set value puzzles for many things in my projects, also for the environment material and it works great.
But I wasn’t able to animate the mapping node (to which I have connected value nodes in Blender) with puzzles the way I did with objects in other projects. I know it must work a bit differently for materials but I just couldn’t figure that out.
For now, just un-grouping the material nodes helped to get the material animation going.Simone
