Hi, I’m looking to mimic the feel of this game, and one thing which I feel is nice about is the smooth pan inertia.

How could I go about trying to replicate this, for if the user is using the arrow keys?

With these sort of games the camera is static and the layers move. The background in the very back never moves so you get a parallax feeling. The movement of the objects uses typical ease in and outs with a slight bounce to stop.

The objects are flat textured or vertex colored making them super light.

There are lots of scroller game tutorials you can use for reference sounds like fun.
