    Hello,

    I’ve made a test case for a configurator and everything works as I want it to, but I’ve noticed that when I run my configurator Chrome’s memory usage skyrockets.

    All parts of my configurable object have a base material applied to them which then have a layer of details applied over them using masks. I use 3Ds Max so I do this by using a Mix node to mix my base material with a single colour using a black and white mask. I have 5 of these masks in my scene and they are all about 60 to 80 kB in size and a power of 2.

    When I just use the base material Chrome uses about 1.000 MB max but when I add the additional details it goes up to about 3.500 MB, which seems excessive.

    Hi again,

    It appears you’re using very big images in your scene – I counted several 8k textures besides others. While their file size is moderate, they occupy a lot of memory when they are loaded.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the reply. I simply tried to use the assets as we have them and use in other software. I’ll try and see how I can best optimize everything.
