    Hello!

Are there any good augmented reality tutorials for Verge 3D? I want to create a simple button that enters AR mode. Within the standard projects I found an Augmented Reality example with a farmer… but it doesn’t work, I get the message that my device is not supported… I tested it both on Ipad and Samsung galaxy s10. Also activated the WebXR options within Chrome.

So I was just wondering if there are any augmented reality with verge 3D tutorials or other examples so I can get my idea to work.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

we just checked this link on Samsung S8 (no S10 sorry) and it worked. iOS devices do not support web AR yet.
Make sure you haven’t missed any steps prescribed here.

actually, that guide is a bit outdated. There is a new option called WebXR AR Module which you also must enable in Chrome flags. Will update the page.

    hi yuri,
this means, AR will only work on
    chrome Browser on android devices?

is there a timemap for web AR development?

when will it be available on chrome, without flags enabling? B-)

Chrome 81 is expected to work without any flags (not sure about iOS roadmap, but they will definitely support AR eventually)

Chrome 81 brings AR to the browser with WebXR and it’s blowing my mind

What types of interactions can be achieved with 3D models on the web with Verge3D? I am using iOS, so I know it displays USDZ files. How do I add interactions to these USDZ files? What about animations? How do I package these?

    What about animations?

Use the Apple’s software for anonations. Verge3D can export to USDZ static meshes only.

Puzzles and JS coding. Fast and expensive.

If you don’t see the meaning in something it primarily means that you just don’t see it but not the absence of the meaning at all.

I want to launch AR off a web-page. Apple’s software — are you refering to Quick Look AR? That is the native way of displaying AR on iPhone.

So, are annotations are the only form of interaction that can be included?

No. Quick Look is just a viewer.

I am trying to launch from the web using Verge3D. According to Verge3D documentation,

For iPhones/iPads you have two choices:
1 – install WebXR Viewer browse
2 – preview assets in USDZ format using the conventional Safari browser. With USDZ assets, you can use the Apple AR Quick Look technology to run simplified augmented reality experience in the default Safari browser. This approach requires you to use completely different rendering engine integrated in iOS, as such you can’t make complex materials or use Puzzles logic for your apps running in AR mode.

So, I am providing Verge3D with a USDZ mesh.
Based on what I see here from Apple, Quick Look AR can support animations as well as interactions:

    https://developer.apple.com/documentation/arkit/arkit_in_ios/previewing_a_model_with_ar_quick_look

Where do I add these interactions that Quick Look AR use? You mention: “Verge3D can export to USDZ static meshes only.” What do you mean by static mesh?

What do you mean by static mesh?

Just a mesh. No animation, no interaction. Just a mesh.

It does. But you need some other software for exporting to USDZ. Verge3D won’t do the job.

Puzzles and JS coding. Fast and expensive.
