    I just installed verge 4.7.1 & found that some scenes I am unable to get the “application
    settings” dialogue after clicking this button.
    This scene was created in 4.5 just for ref.

    What could be the cause?

    I have not encountered this one….. i have you tried re-installing the add on?

    just curious if the V3D comment lines have been removed from your files that you are trying to update?
