Hi! we’re a little homebased team working on interactive learning programs. We use 3dsMAX 2019 and we recently decided to go with Verge3D as our webgl tool.
We have so many questions!!
Here’s the tip of the iceberg:1:Can we use verge3d network (being a remote / homebased team) as an asset/app sharing platform? working on a network rather than in local (3d assets/3DS scenes/app library and such)
2:What size should our 3d assets be? Real life size? scaled down? doesn’t matter?
3:Rendering presets, ART vs Scanline?
4:Can we use 3DSMAX default map such as: Noise, Cellular, Ramp, Gradient, etc.
5:Can Verge3D support 3dsMax particles systems? If so how?
6:Can the Light parameters be animated? Light control and possibilities* (how to in puzzles)
7:Can we use 3dsmax modifiers and animate them? (noise for water for exemple) If so how?
8:Will Vray soon be supported?
9:Can we do things like apply a Glow onto an object as a ”rollover” with only the puzzles … without having to code?
10:How to use the ambiant occlusion puzzle? (it’s not showing and our scene strats to lag when applied.)
11:What’s the best recommended size for our ”apps”? Compression tips and tricks*

Yes, you can use Verge3D network as you want.
What size should our 3d assets be? Real life size? scaled down? doesn’t matter?
Better to keep it in real dementions, but if it’s to small you can make it in bigger scale like we done his in Swiss Army Knife demo. The knife is 10 times bigger than original, that’s just for comfort work.
Rendering presets, ART vs Scanline?
Better to use Art, no matter what rendering presets the look in the Verge3D engine more close to what you will see in the viewport of Max.
Can we use 3DSMAX default map such as: Noise, Cellular, Ramp, Gradient, etc.
Noise, Ramp and Gradient supported, but not the Cellular.
Can Verge3D support 3dsMax particles systems? If so how?
Unfortunally, no.
Can the Light parameters be animated? Light control and possibilities* (how to in puzzles)
No. Only with JavaScript.
Can we use 3dsmax modifiers and animate them? (noise for water for exemple) If so how?
No, all modifiers will be applied on export to the engine.
Will Vray soon be supported?
We have no plan for that.
Can we do things like apply a Glow onto an object as a ”rollover” with only the puzzles … without having to code?
You can use Bloom effect in combination with emittion materials to get glow effect. Look at Scooter demo example.
How to use the ambiant occlusion puzzle? (it’s not showing and our scene strats to lag when applied.)
It must work out of the box, but better to bake ao map, because dynamic AO not so good and give not a proper result and very slow.
What’s the best recommended size for our ”apps”? Compression tips and tricks*
