Hi,
I’m trying to make a brushed metal surface.
I tried a lot of nodes and read all the documentation but unfortunately all I get are just weak dark lines
Please advise me how to obtain a suitable brushed metal with depth so that the brushing pattern can be seen well.
Any advice is very welcome
Thanks?2020-05-19 at 6:18 pm #27778Mikhail LuzyaninStaffPlease, share this examle with materials so I can correct it a little bit.

2020-05-20 at 4:21 pm #27827cristianctinCustomerHi,
It is a good improvement.
However I can not achieve this kind of fine brushed lines ( see attache image ).
In the image it seems that they are engraved ( but they are not, they are using maps ) there is such a vivid combination of black and white and those small ditches has some realistic depth.
I have tweaked the Scale in the Mapping node ( normal, roughness, metallic, maps) but the lines are still very thick.
I have also tried some HDRI but without any success.
Have you any suggestion on how the achieve those kind of fine lines?

Yo may look at this examples of brushed metall nthey made absolutely from procedural map but may be they will look suitable for you.

2020-05-21 at 7:03 pm #27853cristianctinCustomerHi,
I tried to follow your advice and I am a step froward, still not exactly what I need ( see attached image ).
I did not exactly understand by “normal map with combination of b/w mask” . I really do not know what do I have to do :)
As you know how my scenes are setup, please tell me if I can use the Jewelry Material Pack for my purposes ?
Basically all I need now, as urgent, is brushed metal and diamond refraction ( the diamond is work in progress, I hope it will be done soon ).
Thank you2020-05-22 at 5:52 am #27862Mikhail LuzyaninStaffYou can use a simmilar to normal map b/w texture and add over a matcap texture to highlight the brushing little bit. If you can’t make your own normal map to get a good result you can use some textures from our Jewelry library, but you will need to change some parts on the materials to use them. But off cource you can made your own.
